This artwork depicts the simplicity of taking time out from day to day life to enjoy the simple things...like having a pyjama day. In recent times many of us have rediscovered how to stop and smell the roses with the ones we love most, and this painting has come from my recent journey around this.

I love painting Dog. He has a special place in my heart as he was the original subject matter that launched my career as a serious artist and I like to play with different colour palettes periodically. In this unusual season where many of us have found an even deeper appreciation for our furry companions, it seems the perfect time to paint Dog again.

Painted in my figurative style, this artwork was inspired by my grandchildren...whenever I take them for a walk they insist on picking flowers for mum, and they are usually the yellow 'weeds' that all mothers for all time have received at least once from their children :) In this second depiction of a mother and son, it is certain this little man is reveling in his gift being worn so proudly by the woman he most adores.

Although not my usual style, I occasionally like to play around with different media's to enlarge my creative expression. This artwork does however feature my signature colour, steel blue, which can be found in a large number of my works. It has been my favourite colour for as long as I can remember...and it's a colour I am seen wearing often. I just can't get enough of it.
